What time is it?

This week the boys in Ms. Mulvey’s class learned all about sundials. We learned how a sundial is a device that can tell the time of day from the position of the sun.  We even made our own sundials using paper plates and straws. We decorated the plates with our own designs and then stuck the straw vertically out of the middle of the plate. We then headed outside to mark in the position of the shadow of the straw. We did this every hour. At the end of the day we could see how the shadow of the straw had moved each hour and had marked these changes on our sundials.
