Duleek Boys National School

This year the school football team won their section of Division 1 for the third year in a row. The boys won every single match in their section. Unfortunately they were narrowly beaten in the county semi-final by Trim, who went on to become Division 1 County Champions on Saturday 17^th November.

Now that the league has come to an end, Mr. Conroy and the two Mr. McDonalds have set up an internal school league. There’s a 3^rd/4^th class league made up of four teams – Kerry, Cork, Galway and Mayo and there’s a 5^th/6^th class league also made up of four teams – Meath, Dublin, Louth and Kildare. The leagues are open to everybody in these classes and it’s a great opportunity for the younger players to practice and improve their skills.

All league matches take place at lunchtime between 12:30 and 1:00 every day. For now we have two pitches available and so we play a match from both leagues most days. The leagues will run throughout the school year and will eventually culminate in two finals which will be played in June. Each year the medals for the winning finalists are presented at the end of year school presentation night.

This week we had two outstanding students in Mr. Raftery’s Second Class. Tiarnán received the prize for excellent behaviour and work in science, while Keane received his award for excellent work with his reading in Ms. O, Grady’s. A huge maith thú to both lads!
